What are the Top Safety Tips to Work on Elevated Platforms?

In any construction job site, the safety of workers happens to be a major priority. This is even more the case when the work has to be carried out at a height. Proper safety analysis, planning and implementation are required for managing all the possible risks associated with the project. Know about some of the top safety tips that need to be followed for working on an elevator installation platform.

Evaluating the site

It is only after a proper Site Assessment and reviewing of the potential hazards that an effective safety plan can be developed. Find out whether there is a need for ladders, and if these are required, whether they are tall enough and secured in a proper way. It must be checked whether there are skylights or open hatches through which workers may drop down.

Developing a customized safety plan

Safety procedure training needs to be completed by every worker annually. Each worker who is supposed to operate on suspended platforms needs to be briefed about the work-specific safety plan. The plan should be based on the site assessment, and workers must be informed about the risks and directed on how they can apply their training to such particular risks.

Making a teamwork arrangement

This is another simple safety idea that is applicable to workers operating on an elevated extendable work platform. It can include basic concepts like holding a ladder securely for a team mate, or even “spotting” for a particular job, to make sure that all the safety processes are properly followed.
